Exceptional Craftsmanship honed through years of experience

James..

James is a skilled cabinet maker, joiner, kitchen fitter, and fine furniture maker based in Harpenden with over 10 years of experience in bespoke furniture making. His passion for woodworking began at the age of 9, learning from his grandfather and further nurtured by design tech teachers in secondary school. Interest in woodworking continued to grow during university, where he had the opportunity to explore various skills, including free bending laminates, spraying paint onto furniture, and leather upholstery.

After completing university, James gained practical experience by working with a local cabinet maker and focusing on fitting furniture. Recognizing this as the best direction for his career and business, he continued to enhance his skills by working for various cabinet makers. In 2018, James decided to establish his own business, aiming to collaborate with clients in creating their ideal living and work spaces.

Tommy..

Tommy’s love for crafting furniture started with his grandpa in their family workshop. At just 14, he got a Saturday job at a local furniture company, learning the ropes from top-notch craftsmen. After a two-year fine furniture making program at Moulton College, Tommy went into the world of design with a 3D design foundation degree at Dunstable College, earning a distinction. His interest in sustainable design led him to a three-year course at Falmouth University, graduating with a first in 3D Design for Sustainability in 2007.

To truly master his craft, Tommy joined Tagg Furniture for four years, soaking up knowledge in veneering, spraying, bench joinery, and fitting. Seeking new challenges, he moved to a commercial joinery workshop with a solid surface department, shadowing the head fabricator until he earned a promotion. Three more fruitful years followed at Edward Williams Joinery.

In 2016, Tommy ventured out on his own with Tec Furniture. Starting small, he rented a bench, gradually growing his client base until he needed his own workshop. Collaborating with James Prince, their partnership blossomed, culminating in the establishment of Clark and Prince Ltd in 2021, marking a thriving chapter in their shared dedication to exceptional furniture design and craftsmanship.
